Movie Afternoon

We will watch and then discuss the movie “Luther” from 2003. It depicts the journey of Martin Luther, a German monk who becomes disillusioned by corruption in the Catholic Church. Starting with his vow to become a monk after surviving a thunderstorm, the film chronicles his spiritual struggles, how he challenges to Church doctrine especially the sale of indulgences and his bold act of posting the 95 Theses and his subsequent exile. Undeterred, Luther translates the Bible into German, marries Katharina von Bora, and inspires a movement that ignites the Protestant Reformation, emphasizing faith and scripture for all believers.
